About Arizona Security School Classes
Security 101 - Basic Security Officer - 8 Hour
This course prepares a candidate for understanding the levels of reasonable force; Arizona title 32 security law and Arizona title 13 criminal laws that apply to security, interfacing with law enforcement, basic report writing, the importance of image to represent your company, and the responsibilities of wearing a uniform... This class is taught in a comfortable classroom at our Academy.
At successful class completion it gives a candidate their training certificate needed for State of Arizona - Department of Public Safety (DPS) licensing or renewal.
A DPS (Department of Safety) Guard Card allows a candidate to work as an employee. This is not an agency license that allows you to contract work.
To be licensed you must be at least 18 years of age, have a clean record, and a legal resident of the United States.

Security 102 - Armed Guard 2 Day - 16 hour class:
Armed guard 16 hr class: at successful class completion it gives a candidate their training certificate needed for upgrading their security guard card license with DPS. First day is in our classroom and the second day is at the range for additional classroom, shooting practice, and qualification. Student must bring a legal handgun, safety glasses, and 100 rounds of ammunition. If a candidate is not familiar with a handgun, they will be required to take NRA basic pistol first.

Security 106 - Conceal & Carry Weapon Permit (CCW) - 1 day Certification Training - 8 hr CE
CCW 1 day certification training gives a candidate their CCW training certificate to turn into DPS for a candidates Arizona state concealed carry license. This course prepares a student to understand using a handgun for personal protection, liability issues, civil & criminal laws that affect them, levels of reasonable force, safe gun handling and storage, and range qualification. Student must bring a legal handgun, safety glasses, and 100 rounds of ammunition. The classroom portion is taught in an air conditioned classroom. The range may be indoor or outdoors. Candidates will be told prior to class where they are to train. If a candidate is not familiar with a handgun, they will be required to take NRA basic pistol first. A CCW is for personal protection and does not authorize a candidate to work armed. If you are required to carry on the job you must get the Armed guard certification.
This course additionally covers levels of reasonable force, safe gun handling and storage, and includes range practice and qualification. Student must bring a legal handgun, safety glasses, ear protection and a minimum of 50 rounds. The classroom portion is taught in an airconditioned classroom. The range may be indoor or outdoors. Candidates will be told prior to class where they are to train. If a candiadte is not familiar with a handgun, they will be required to take NRA basic pistol first. A CCW is for personal protection and does not authorize a candidate to work armed. If you are required to carry on the job you must get the Armed guard certification. Check under Security classes. We also include a frameable Discovery certificate to show professional training.

Security 202 NRA Certificate for Basic Pistol
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 10-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, two handed and one handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, course completion certificate.
Experience with a gun means basic pistol certification from the NRA If you can not show experience with a hand gun this class is a prerequisite to taking our Armed Guard, CCW, and Personal Protection in the Home certification classes. Experience with a gun means basic pistol certification from the NRA or other approved organization, military, law enforcement, LEOSA, CCW permit, etc. It will familiarize you with a hand gun so you are comfortable with it's safe handling, use, and proper storage.
Bring your lunch, drinks and snacks because we do a working lunch in the classroom and there are only vending machines available at the range. Student must bring a hand gun, minimum 100 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection. Ear plugs are ok. Please dress comfortably, but you must have closed toe shoes, sleeved shirt or blouse, or crew neck t-shirt, and long pants. A hat and sunscreen are also good to take. Walk-ins pay $20 additional if space is available. Walk-ins, we are not responsible if the class was canceled or is full.

Security 203 - NRA Basic Personal Protection
Personal Protection inside the home: teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.
The NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course participants must be law abiding, adults (at least 21 years old), and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.
